Working with the Voyles Realty Group: Why We Don't Believe in High-Pressure Sales
There's a moment in almost every first conversation we have with a potential client when they say something like:
"We're probably not ready yet..."
Or...
"We're really just looking."
Sometimes they even apologize for "wasting our time."
The funny thing is... from our perspective, they're not wasting our time at all.
In fact, those are some of our favorite conversations.
Buying or selling a home isn't something most people do every day. It's one of the biggest financial decisions you'll ever make, and it comes with a lot of emotions, questions, and unknowns. We don't expect someone to have everything figured out before they pick up the phone.
That's why we've never believed our job is to convince someone to make a move.
We believe our job is to help people understand their options.
Maybe that's a subtle difference, but it's one that shapes every conversation we have.
Years ago, someone told us that a good salesperson should always be "asking for the sale." We understood the idea, but it never really fit who we are. If someone calls because they're curious about the market or wondering what their home might be worth, the last thing they need is someone trying to talk them into listing next week.
Sometimes the best advice we give is actually, "You know what? I'd wait."
That surprises people.
But there are plenty of times when waiting makes more sense than moving. Maybe interest rates aren't the deciding factor—their growing family is. Maybe they want another year to save for a down payment. Maybe they'd benefit from tackling a few home projects before listing. And sometimes, after talking through everything together, they realize they already live in the right house.
If that's the conclusion we reach, we consider that a successful conversation.
Because success isn't measured by how quickly someone becomes a client.
It's measured by whether they leave with more clarity than they had before they called.
That's also why you'll never hear us use scare tactics like, "You'd better buy before prices go up," or "You have to list before it's too late." None of us can predict the future, and we'd rather be honest about today's market than make promises we can't keep.
Real estate isn't one-size-fits-all. Every family has different goals, different finances, different timelines, and different reasons for moving. Good advice should reflect that.
Over the years, we've had people reach out months—or even years—before they were actually ready. We'd answer a few questions, check in from time to time, and then life would happen. Maybe they welcomed another baby. Maybe a job changed. Maybe parents needed to move closer. Eventually, when the timing was right, they came back.
Not because we stayed in front of them with constant sales pitches.
Because they remembered how we made them feel.
Respected.
Listened to.
Never rushed.
That's the kind of experience we want every person to have, whether they buy a house next month or never buy one through us at all.
So if you're wondering what your home is worth, thinking about buying someday, or simply have questions about today's market, don't worry about having a perfectly formed plan before you reach out.
You don't have to be "ready."
You don't have to promise you're moving.
You don't even have to know what your next step is.
Bring us your questions.
We'll help you find the answers, and together we'll figure out whether now is the right time—or whether your best move is to wait.
Either way, we'll consider that time well spent.
Working with the Voyles Realty Group is a blog series that takes you behind the scenes of what it's really like to buy or sell a home with our team. From communication and negotiations to timelines and the work you never see, we're pulling back the curtain on the client experience.
